My Artistic Journey:
From Pleasing to Passion
Description:
My Artistic Journey: From Pleasing to Passion: Shirley will talk about her artistic journey; how she found the courage and the confidence to create the imagery that interested and excited her; how by doing so she learned to accept and like herself, warts and all. She will talk about the mentors who, and the lessons that helped her find her way. Using images of her work she will hopefully show you where her mind has taken her. It’s been a fun ride.
Presenter:
Shirley Brown
Shirley Brown uses paint and multi media to explore her interests in celebrity, power and unexpected disaster. Her work has been exhibited in group and solo shows across Canada and internationally. Shirley has been the recipient of awards from Manitoba Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts. Her work is included in various private and public collections such as the Manitoba Arts Council and Canada Council Art Banks. Shirley has served as a mentor in the MAWA Advisory Program as well as in rural and remote areas of the province. She was Artist in Residence at the Dunlop in Regina and the Winnipeg Art Gallery in Winnipeg.
